Over more than 20 years, we have developed proprietary analytical frameworks and tools that underpin our work with clients and management teams.

Our frameworks and tools are fundamental to our work. They help inform client decision-making and align teams and investors. We regularly upgrade them, adapt them to specific client situations and add to them to support new situations.

Our frameworks
and tools

Whether a management due diligence assignment, a senior hire assessment or an organisational development project, we incorporate the right tools in the best ways to bring deeper, holistic and objective insight for our clients.

Challenge, complexity and horsepower framework

Our framework helps investors and teams assess the situation through an objective lens:

  • We gauge the internal complexity, external factors and stretch of the plan - checking also how this is perceived in the business

  • We assess horsepower in the management and organisation through the deployment of tools and having meaningful dialogue

We calibrate our findings onto the Framework Map and compare to other relevant situations. Then we help investors and teams plot a path back onto the "line of sanity" through a set of practical actions.

Measuring leadership impact potential

We all have different styles of working and there is body of evidence that points to a strong correlation between an individual's working style and their potential to have impact in key aspects of leadership.

Our use of the Saville Wave personality profile combined with our own internal benchmarks helps us to measure absolute and relative levels of Leadership Impact Potential of senior leaders and of composite executive teams.

Assessing team effectiveness

We have developed methodologies to assess team effectiveness in a business. Our diagnostic tool measures internal perceptions of key behaviours that drive effectiveness, and these are benchmarked against comparable teams.

Analysis and reports

Over the last 20+ years, we have published analysis and reports that offer an overview of the background evidence and thinking that underpins the work Catalysis does. Most deal with issues facing mid-market investors and the companies they back.
